penedoPAD

A charming white house on top of the Penedo hill with spectacular sea views and various outdoors spaces. The house was rebuilt in the 1970ies by Portuguese architect Joao Almeida, who is known for remodeling historic buildings in the Penedo area with a modern twist, creating a more dynamic and light feel to the spaces. The property comprises 361 m2 of land and 149 m2 of construction, divided in two floors. The open-space living, dining and kitchen areas on the ground floor are characterized by big corner windows looking out over the hill to the Atlantic Ocean. Various built-in sitting areas are fitted with tailor-made cotton pillows. The fireplace makes for extra coziness. The ground floor provides access to two of the outdoor spaces, the romantic patio featuring a stone table under a pergola overgrown with wine, and the small garden with fruit trees and additional storage space. A small extra room could be a perfect study with a view. The main bathroom is finished with original Viúva Lamego tiles.

Winding stairs lead to the upper floor with two spacious bedrooms offering plenty of built-in storage space. One bedroom has an en-suit bathroom, the other bedroom is connected to the highpoint of the house: the 50sqm veranda with spectacular panoramic views to the Ocean all the way to Ericeira and with an open fireplace under a high chimney. Outdoor stairs connect to the patio and the entrance gate. The house has been fitted with an energy-efficient heat pump and brand-new radiators in 2022.
