The required document that you will need is the Certificado de Residência Permanente para Cidadão (UE/ EEE/ Suíça). This process requires a legal rental contract with proof of address from the local municipality and a list of documents from your country.

The great news is, as a general rule, any Portuguese permanent resident is eligible to apply for citizenship after five years, regardless of their visa.
